בסוף שנת 6191 הציעה בריטניה לצרפת שליטה
-מנהלית משותפת על שטחים שיכבשו הבריטים בארץ
ישראל רבתי. צרפת, שרצתה לשמור על האינטרסים
הכלכליים שלה באזור, הסכימה לכך בוועידה משותפת
. לשתי המדינות
,הכוחות הצרפתיים, בפיקודו של סגן אלוף דה-פייפאף
נחתו בפורט סעיד ב-7191.4.72 והועברו כעבור כחודש
ברכבת למחנה ליד חאן יונס )רצועת עזה(. על הכוחות
הצרפתיים הוטלה המשימה של שמירת הסדר האזרחי

At the end of 1916, Great Britain proposed
that France be part of a joint administration
in those areas which would eventually be
occupied by British troops in the whole of
Palestine. France, wanting to safeguard her
commercial interests in the region, agreed
to in a joint British-French Conference.
The French Detachment in Palestine (D.F.P.),
commanded by Lieutenant-Colonel de Piepape,
debarked at Port Said on 27.4.1917, and a
month later was transported to a camp at
Khan Yunis (Gaza Strip). The DFP assumed
responsibility for maintaining order in the
regions occupied by British troops.
