Ashkelon — Venice, 1459
Folded letter from Ascelona (Askelon) to
Venice dated 31.3.1459 and forwarded by
the Venetian post. The letter, written in
Venetian dialect, accompanied a shipment
of goods, as denoted by the drawing of the
tied bag. The large cross indicates that the
charge for the letter was pre-paid.
